Hiring a bestselling ghostwriter for… a business book

Yesterday I received the fantastic news that one of the books I ghostwrote is a finalist in the Business Book of the Year Awards 2023.

As a bestselling ghostwriter helping a book emerge into the world and then see it reach a wide audience and capture the imagination of book award judges is hugely rewarding.

This is amazing news for my client, who had approached me with an idea, but needed help to shape and expand the prose to develop a book. It took around six months to write, tons of research and I interviewed many incredible case studies to illustrate points we made. I helped the book find a suitable publisher and bingo!

Today that book is sold in all good book shops, has made it onto the curriculum at Harvard University and now is up for a prestigious book award.

When it comes to business books there is no doubt it’s a crowded marketplace. There are simply hundreds of thousands of titles out there. So why consider writing a business book in the first place?

Well, there’s plenty of good reasons. Here’s a few ideas:

·      Every business book is unique because every businessperson has a unique experience. No two professional pathways are ever the same.

·      Writing a business book has been described as the ‘new business card’. It’s an effective (and impressive!) way to showcase expertise and knowledge in your field.

·      The challenges and hurdles faced in business often make an interesting story offering solutions for readers. Readers buy business books often to solve their own problems.

·      A business book is another platform to promote your business and your expertise. If you’re keen to become an industry thought leader having a compelling  book to direct people to will immediately capture the imagination and their attention.

·      It’s immensely rewarding. Writing a book is a challenge and often a once-in-a-life time experience, but becoming a published author is a dream for many people, even after they have achieved huge business success. Often sharing professional experience to help others’ feels like the biggest achievement of all.

To date I have written multiple business books, for CEOs, entrepreneurs, start-ups, and established professionals. As a ghostwriter, I knew little about business at first but have learned so much that it helped inspire me to start my own which is The Ghostwriters Agency.  This is a ghostwriting service which matches clients with bestselling UK ghostwriters. In fact, my co-founder Teena Lyons is also an award-winning business book ghostwriter, so I think our collective experiences writing for others has definitely rubbed off!
